Alex McFadyen recently had the opportunity to sit down with realtor Denny Dumas on his podcast 'Zero to Here'. Among many topics, one was social media and how to utilize it for your business.


You can't always see how many people your posts are affecting. Just because those same people aren't saying anything, it doesn't mean they aren't watching. It's easy to get caught up in views and likes, where the real evolution takes place is when you stop worrying about those aspects. As long as your posts aren't negative, there isn't a need to worry about viewership. Those who value the information will tune in.


In Alex's journey, he started making videos as a way to educate the public on mortgages where he saw a lack of it in the industry. If he didn't know the answer to a question he would learn it before educating the public.


Speaking on a video can be a terrifying experience for some, keep in mind you are speaking to each individual viewer one on one. Treat it like a conversation and it will come off as natural.


There are many different ways you can position yourself with content. Be aware that there is a difference between marketing and engagement. With marketing, you are selling an image, product, or service. With engagement, you are communicating, teaching, and asking questions to build a conversation.


In the end, the only aspect that differentiates your content is you! Bring something unique that others can't offer, being you!
